Dhoni retired from international cricket in August 2020
Former Indian captain and legendary player MS Dhoni has been inducted into the Hall of Fame by the International Cricket Council (ICC). Let us tell you that the ICC has given this information through a post from its official X account today, Monday, June 9.
It is worth noting that under Dhoni’s captaincy, India won the ICC T20 World Cup, ICC World Cup 2011 and Champions Trophy 2013. Dhoni is counted among some of the best captains in India as well as the world. Also, in 2009, for the first time, India emerged as the number one team in Test cricket under Dhoni’s captaincy.
Let us tell you that Dhoni started his international cricket career in 2004 with an ODI match played against Bangladesh in Chittagong. He was last seen playing for India against New Zealand in the semi-finals of the World Cup 2019.
On August 15, 2020, Dhoni announced his retirement through a social media post. However, after retirement, Dhoni has been seen continuously playing for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL.
Apart from Dhoni, these cricketers also got inducted into ICC Hall of Fame
Apart from MS Dhoni, ICC has inducted some other cricketers into ICC Hall of Fame. Among these players, in the men’s category, Australia’s opening batsman Matthew Hayden, South Africa’s opening batsman and former captain Graeme Smith, Smith’s fellow cricketer from South Africa Hashim Amla and New Zealand’s former captain and spinner Daniel Vettori have also been inducted into ICC Hall of Fame.
Apart from this, in the women’s category, Pakistan women’s cricket team’s former captain Sana Mir and England women’s cricket team’s former batsman Sarah Taylor have been inducted into ICC Hall of Fame this time.
